Barracuda Blast: volunteering, parent meeting, fees and mini info
Hi Swim Families,
We’re excited to keep the season moving forward and have a few important updates and reminders for everyone:
Volunteer Shifts - sign up HERE
Thank you to everyone who has already signed up! We still need coverage in the later meets, and we especially need at least two more Stroke & Turn Judges. If you’re interested, please take a look at the attached flyer for details on how to get certified and help support our swimmers.
Additionally, we have received a lot of questions regarding the volunteer requirement for this season so please read the following note from our team president.
We have had a lot of feedback about our new volunteer ask of 10 credits per family. We want to clarify that that each shift/role is weighted and we are requesting 10 points and not necessarily 10 shifts. Please make sure you look at the “weight” of the role before signing up. Our goal is to make this as even as possible. We truly understand that we know it’s a big ask and that swim is a lot of work for all of us. Most roles are predetermined by the league/Swimtopia and we have gone through all the positions in order for us to be successful (as a team and community) this season. With the situation the team was put in last year with the number of families that opted out (which is fine) we had to make changes to the volunteer positions and amount required to opt out per family. In the end the Parent committee had to pay to fill roles we couldn’t in the later part of the season which surprisingly was just as a difficult as filling the original role. With that being said, this is about the kids and having FUN and supporting our community. We are all in this together and no one should work more than the other. We will always be willing to work with each family if this is truly not feasible our ask is that you make an effort to support us the best that you can. We ask that you please help us in starting our summer off successfully and knowing that we are all in this together. We look forward to a summer of fun, smiles and good swims.
If you have any further questions about volunteering, please reach out to Tiffany Tripp or Brigitte Johnson and they will be happy to answer them for you.

Fees & Volunteer Checks – Due May 26
All fees and volunteer checks must be submitted by May 26 for your swimmer to be eligible to participate this season. This includes spring swim sessions attended but not yet paid for.
Individual emails are being sent to families who are still missing registration fees, spring swim fees or their volunteer check—please keep an eye on your inbox and take care of this as soon as possible.
Mini Swimmer “Placement” Swims
We will be hosting two mini placement swims to help evaluate our younger swimmers. Mini families only need to attend one of these sessions—Coach Maddie will be sending a email out with more information about this process within the next couple of days.
Weekly Communication & Resources
Moving forward, the Barracuda Blast will be sent out each Sunday and will include all pertinent information for the upcoming week. A link to the weekly blast will also appear in the recent news section on our SwimTopia homepage.
Please also remember that our SwimTopia website is kept up to date and should be used as a reliable resource for schedules, announcements, and team information.
As always, thank you for your support in making this a great season for all our swimmers. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
See you at the pool!
