FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do my kids need to attend practice every day?
No. We ask that families do their best with the understanding that the more practices attended, the more improvement the swimmer will see by the end of the season
Do my kids need to attend practice in the mornings and the evenings?
No. We offer both options to ease the logistical burden but you and your swimmer can decide which works the best for your family. Attend only morning, only evenings, or mix and match.
Does my swimmer need a team suit?
No. Any one pieces for girls can be worn and any tight-fitting jammers for boys. They do not need to match their teammates
Do I need to provide a swim cap?
Yes. We are encouraging that you order from the team store and add your swimmer's last name on them for ease of identifying the swimmers during meets. We will have a few plain caps for sale at the beginning of the season.
What equipment do I need to provide for my swimmer?
Cap, goggles, swimsuit, and towel

How many volunteer shifts do I need to cover to get my deposit check back?
The exact shift requirement is made known before the season starts, usually early May. This number is determined on the number of families we have registered and the number of home meets that we host each season. Previous seasons have seen between 5-6 shifts PER FAMILY
How can I fulfill my volunteer requirements?
Volunteer requirements are met by signing up for shifts to help during meets or assist the team during the year. That sign up can be found under the Volunteer tab on our homepage.
Will there be training for the volunteer positions?
Most of the volunteer positions can be learned the day of the meet. Stroke & Turn Judges and the Computer operator require training. In addition, we will provide training for anyone who attends the mock meet.
What if I am unable to volunteer during meets?
There are several volunteer opportunities not during actual swim meets. The volunteer registration will open prior to the start of the season and all opportunities will be visible at that time.
Who should I notify if I would prefer to pay the $500 volunteer fee instead of volunteering?
Please send an email to [email protected] if you know you will not fulfill the volunteer requirement and would like us to cash your volunteer check.
What time do we arrive for the swim meets?
6 a.m. as warm-ups usually start around 6:15 a.m.
What time do the meets start?
7 a.m.
What should we bring to the swim meets?
Lots of extra towels (one per race is a good place to start with towels), warm clothes to layer on between events, healthy snacks, sunscreen, cash for concessions, hat. For away meets, be sure to pack some blankets, chairs and, if you have one, a pop-up tent – not all pools have chairs and tables or shelter like Grant Ranch.
How long do the meets usually last?
The dual meets are usually around 3-4 hours. We have a few tri meets this summer and they will likely run 4-5 hours. Most meets must be wrapped up by noon.
Do we have to stay for the entire meet?
No. You may leave when your swimmers have completed ALL of their events, this includes relays. Note that the free relays occur later in the meet. If you need to leave at a certain time, please let the coaches know so they don’t enter your swimmer in a relay.
Where can I find qualifying times?
Qualifying times for both the Ken Caryl Invitational and State are posted under Docs in Swimtopia. 2026 qualifying times will be posted before the start of the season.
