Code of Conduct

The following Code of Conduct is a general outline of the behavior participating swimmers,coaches, and parents are expected to follow at all meets. The Code of Conduct cannot addressallpossible situations, and therefore, the coaches and parent committee have discretion indisciplining behavior that is disruptive and/or unlawful, whether displayed at a practice, meet,orother swim function.

Code of Conduct - Swimmers

AS A SWIMMER, I PROMISE THAT:

  1. I will listen to the coaches, and I will not disrupt the team meetings, practices, or otherswimfunctions.
  2. I will not physically or verbally abuse another swimmer, coach, official, parent or volunteer.
  3. I will display respect and professionalism to all involved in the sport. I will not engage in anyunsportsmanlike conduct, such as profanity or taunting, with any opponent, team member, coach,official,parent, volunteer, or spectator.
  4. I will not deliberately misuse or damage equipment, facilities, or the personal property ofother swimmers.
  5. I will follow the rules of the Club or other facility hosting the meet or other swim function.
  6. Iunderstand that failure to comply with these rules may result in disciplinary action,included,but not limited to the following: a verbal warning, conference with parents, removal from practice(s)and/or meet(s),suspension or expulsion from the team.

Code of Conduct - Parents/Guardians

AS A PARENT OF A SWIMMER, I PROMISE THAT:

  1. I will not coach, discipline, or instruct the team or any swimmer at practices or meets(from the stands or any other area) or interfere with the coaches on the pool deck.
  2. I willdemonstrate good sportsmanship by maintaining control and will conductmyself in amanner that earns the respect of my child, other swimmers, parents,coaches, officials, andvolunteers at all practices and meets. I understand thatcriticizing, name-calling, use ofabusive language or gestures directed towardscoaches, officials, volunteers, boardmembers,and any participating swimmer and/orparent of a swimmer is unsportsmanlike,is notpermissible, and may result indisciplinary action.
  3. I will discuss any concerns that arise during a meet with the designated meetrepresentativeorthe coach of my swim club at an appropriate break so as not to interferewith the otherswimmers’ performances and me with the coaches on deck.Iunderstand that failure to comply with this expectation may result indisciplinary action,included, butnot limited to the following: a verbal warning, removalfrom practice(s) and/ormeet(s).
